The U.K.-based pet food group promotes Greenwood from Global CMO to drive growth of its flagship brands in the United States and Canada

PHOENIX, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — MPM Products, the global Certified B Corporation devoted to making nutritious, protein-rich pet food, recently announced the appointment of Samantha Greenwood as President of its North America business.

New MPM USA President: Samantha Greenwood

Greenwood brings more than 25 years of experience in developing international brands to the new role. She flourished as MPM’s Global Chief Marketing Officer for more than four years, helping to steer MPM through a successful private equity sale to Partners Group from 3i Group in 2025, before she was promoted to the U.S.-based leadership position in July.

“Sam has been instrumental in shaping the growth and success of our brands globally through her role as Chief Marketing Officer,” said MPM Chief Executive Officer Julian Bambridge. “Her deep understanding of our consumers, strong connection to our brands, and proven ability to translate insight into commercial success make her uniquely qualified to lead our U.S. business.”

U.K.-based MPM stands out in the market for its unwavering focus on cats. It holds a global portfolio of leading, premium cat food brands including Applaws, Reveal, and Encore. Since its founding in 2002, MPM (short for Making Pet Food Matters) has expanded into over 50 markets worldwide, with offices in the U.K., U.S., Australia, China and Thailand.

The United States is the largest pet food market in the world, with among the highest rates of pet ownership. MPM made a significant shift to the U.S. in 2021, when it built out a team across the country and broadened its store and online footprint with strong sales through Chewy, Amazon and PetSmart and other omnichannel, e-commerce and specialty retailers.

The United States now accounts for more than 40 percent of MPM revenue, and  Greenwood is focused on extending MPM’s upward trajectory. There’s plenty of room to grow.

The $158 billion spent on pets in the U.S. in 2025 is projected to reach $165 billion this year, according to the American Pet Products Association. Last year, 53% of U.S. households had dogs and 39% had cats, with a total of 95 million households owning at least one pet, the APPA reports.

“As we continue to invest in our brands, innovation and capabilities across this strategically important market, I am confident that Sam’s leadership will drive the next phase of growth while ensuring we continue to deliver the quality and standards our consumers expect from MPM,” Bambridge said.

Before joining MPM in 2022, Greenwood built a reputation as growth strategy expert and an inspirational leader at the multinational consumer goods titans Mondelēz International and Kraft Heinz. She worked across multiple categories including premium coffee and chocolate and was based in the New Jersey area for eight years.

That Greenwood segued from promoting human food to boosting pet food is not far fetched when you consider two factors: First, how her passion is totally in sync with MPM’s mission to enrich the lives of pets and their owners through visibly better pet food; and second, the cultural trend of “pet humanization” in the U.S., where people increasingly regard cats and dogs as family members and demand healthy meals and treats for their furry companions.

MPM and its Applaws, Reveal and Encore brands were built on a limited-ingredients philosophy, making cat food with premium cuts of poultry or fish, and a focus on grain-free recipes with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

The goal is to make every meal a special moment between humans and their feline companions. Cats can be so finicky and aloof that mealtime might be the only interaction of the day with their humans. So Applaws, Reveal and Encore have a wide variety of options for every cat and kitten craving, from complete and balanced entrées, patés, and dry food, to complementary special dishes with high-quality proteins in broth, to lickable treats.

MPM has always had a higher purpose than simply building a profitable business. Doing the right thing by cats, people and the planet has been part of its DNA since it was started. And now these founding pillars of transparency and accountability are supporting its highly-acclaimed B Corporation certification. For the past five years, the company has achieved the global B Corp status by demonstrating how its business practices have had positive impacts on workers, customers, suppliers, the community and the environment.

Some of the highlights that earned this year’s B Corp recertification included donating more than 7.7 million meals since 2021, launching a new climate action plan, and monitoring ethical, safety and quality standards of suppliers.

“We take total responsibility for the impact we have on our people, our communities and our planet, actively working towards a positive effect on the world,” Greenwood said in an interview with trade publication Business Chief’s Insights. “Every employee has at least one business objective tied directly to an action that positively contributes to advancing our B Corp agenda.”

Greenwood is confident that MPM in North America will continue to excel in meeting the needs of cats and their owners.

The boom in pet ownership, especially of cats, during the Covid pandemic, “means that there is a growing cohort of cats who are entering their ‘senior’ phase of life,” Greenwood told Business Chief’s Insights, “so we are innovating under our platform Applaws ‘Healthy Ageing’ to ensure we are bring products to market that help support senior cats to continue to thrive.”

Greenwood is also focused on the fact that Gen Z pet owners are disproportionately choosing to adopt cats over dogs, and looking for healthy, sustainable brands that reflect their values.

“We want to make cat ownership and choosing the right food for their cat’s enjoyment and health as straightforward as possible so we will continue to innovate to make sure we provide the right variety and options for them,” she said.
