R. Short Roofing Names Second Free Roof Giveaway Recipient After Compelling Story

Just weeks after its first free roof giveaway, the Delaware roofing company is stepping up again for a Seaford homeowner whose story the team could not ignore.

SEAFORD, DE, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Just weeks after helping one Delaware homeowner through its Free Roof Giveaway, R. Short Roofing is preparing to do it again.

Christine Squires has been named the company’s second free roof recipient in the last two months after her story stood out in a way the R. Short Roofing team simply could not ignore. Rather than stop after one winner, the company made the decision to extend the impact of the giveaway and provide Christine with a full roof replacement at no cost.

Christine lives alone in Seaford, Delaware and survives on Social Security. She is managing a physical disability, including a drop-foot complication that followed a joint-replacement surgery last August. She also recently received approval through the State for no-cost solar installation on her home.

During the solar inspection, however, Christine was told her roof was not in good enough condition to safely support the system. Without a new roof, the installation cannot move forward, and replacing it is not something she can currently afford.

A new roof would not only make Christine’s home safer, but would also clear the way for the solar installation to move forward. She says the system is estimated to reduce her electric bill by nearly 60 percent, a life-changing savings on a fixed income. In a personal and gracious letter to Mr. Short, Christine shared her story and expressed sincere gratitude for being considered.

“When we started this giveaway, the goal was to make a real difference for someone in our community. We were fortunate to do that once, but Christine’s story stayed with us. Her situation was too compelling to ignore, and we knew we had an opportunity to step up a second time. A new roof will make her home safer and open the door to major long-term savings through solar. That kind of impact matters.”

“Christine is dealing with a lot, and she has handled it with grace. She lives alone, is managing a physical disability, and is doing her best on a fixed income. Being able to make this our second free roof giveaway in two months means a lot to our team. If we can replace her roof and help move this solar project forward, that is exactly the kind of difference we want R. Short Roofing to make.”

R. Short Roofing will install Christine’s new roof on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 25360 Mallard Drive, Seaford, Delaware. The company welcomes media coverage of the installation and the story behind its second free roof giveaway in the last two months.
